B.C. Appoints Chief Scientific Adviser for Mental Health and Addiction

British Columbia appointed Dr. Daniel Vigo as chief scientific adviser to address the complex mental health and addiction needs of overdose survivors with brain injuries. Premier David Eby highlighted that, since 2016, 15,000 people have died from toxic drugs, while many survivors suffer life-altering brain injuries. Vigo will analyze current services, review data, and advise on best practices to improve care and reduce repeated health emergencies in affected individuals.
