Christa Deguchi Wins Canada’s First Olympic Gold in Paris

Christa Deguchi won Canada's first gold medal at the Paris Olympics, defeating South Korea's Mimi Huh in the women's 57-kg judo final. This is Canada's first gold in judo and the fourth medal overall at these Games. Deguchi, who switched nationality from Japan to Canada in 2017, clinched victory after Huh received a third penalty. Deguchi previously finished second at the world championships, securing her spot in Paris.
