Google Distributes $100M to Canadian News

Google will pay Canadian news publishers $100 million annually to be exempt from the Online News Act. The Canadian Journalism Collective, a non-profit, will distribute the funds to eligible news organizations. The collective, founded by independent publishers and broadcasters, includes diverse media outlets and commits to fair distribution. The payment awaits federal approval, and funds will be proportionately allocated based on the number of full-time journalists employed.
