How Your Brain Detects Everyday Patterns Unconsciously

A study published in Nature reveals that the human brain unconsciously identifies patterns in experiences by processing information about events over time. Researchers studied 17 epilepsy patients with implanted electrodes, observing neuron activity in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex. Participants, distracted during trials, recognized patterns in face images without awareness. The findings suggest the brain can predict future events based on learned patterns, offering insights into memory and potential therapeutic applications.
