Inflation Dips to 2.7% in April, Food Prices Ease

Canada's consumer price index dipped to 2.7% in April from 2.9% in March, led by slower food price growth. Food costs rose 1.4% compared to March's 1.9%, mainly due to meat prices. Gas prices increased 6.1%, attributed to summer petrol blends and carbon levies. Alberta saw a steep 16.2% rise in rent, above the national average of 8.2%, straining students' living conditions. The Bank of Canada may consider a rate cut in June amid easing inflation.
