Canadiens Extend Juraj Slafkovsky's Contract

On Canada Day, Juraj Slafkovsky secured an eight-year, $60.8-million contract extension with the Montreal Canadiens, starting in the 2025-26 season. The deal, signed as NHL free agency began, carries an average annual value of $7.6 million. Slafkovsky, selected first overall in the 2022 NHL draft, made franchise history by recording 20 goals and 50 points in 82 games during the 2023-24 season. Additionally, the Canadiens signed forward Alex Barré-Boulet to a one-year, $775,000 contract.
