A new Statistics Canada report shows overqualification among Canadian immigrants is decreasing. From 2016 to 2021, the number of recent immigrants with at least a bachelor’s degree working in jobs matching their qualifications increased by 4.4%. The over-education rate dropped from 31.1% in 2016 to 26.7% in 2021, the lowest in 20 years. Bridging programs help immigrants align their international experience with Canadian requirements.
