University of Saskatchewan graduate students Kristin Moskalyk and Nicole Lamoureux developed a metaverse to teach the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14: Life Below Water. Their VR tool, created for landlocked provinces, immerses users in ocean conservation education. The project won the Metaverse for Sustainable Development Goals Global Prize and Virtual Reality Competition, earning them $10,000. They presented their metaverse at the UN's Science Technology and Innovation Forum, aiming to inspire engaging learning experiences worldwide.
