Starting October 1, Ontario’s minimum wage will rise from $16.55 to $17.20 per hour, benefiting most employees, including liquor servers. The student minimum wage increases to $16.20, while remote workers will earn $18.90 per hour. Despite these adjustments, many argue that wages still fall short of the living wage needed in urban areas, particularly in the Greater Toronto Area, where a living wage is estimated at $25.05 per hour.
