Physical Inactivity a ‘Silent Threat’ for Countries, Including Canada

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that physical inactivity is a growing "silent threat" worldwide, with over 31% of adults globally not meeting recommended activity levels in 2022, up from 27.5% in 2016. In Canada, 37.2% of adults were inactive in 2022, potentially rising to 41.4% by 2030. WHO urges countries to implement policies promoting physical activity through community sports, active transportation, and accessible public spaces.
