Scientists predict Earth will have a "mini-moon" by the end of the month, an asteroid named 2024 PT5 from the Arjuna asteroid belt. Unlike our permanent moon, this mini-moon won’t complete a full orbit but will briefly be captured by Earth's gravity. The phenomenon of near-Earth objects becoming temporary moons is common, occurring several times a decade, with PT5 acting as a "window shopper" during its short visit.
