Toronto Workers Have Longest Commutes: StatsCan

Commuting times for Canadians have returned to pre-pandemic levels, with 16.5 million people commuting in May, up by 585,000 from last year, according to Statistics Canada. The average commute is now 26.4 minutes. Toronto has the longest commutes in Canada at 33.3 minutes, followed by Oshawa (32.6 minutes) and Barrie (30.7 minutes). Factors like traffic congestion, reduced transit services, and increased hybrid work are contributing to longer commutes.
