Ontario School Boards Join Social Media Lawsuit

Five more Ontario school boards and two independent private schools have joined a lawsuit against social media platforms like Snapchat, TikTok, and Facebook. This brings the total to nine school boards and two private schools seeking $4.5 billion in damages for allegedly disrupting student learning. The legal action aims for change and compensation. The Ontario government has also introduced measures to restrict cellphone use in schools starting in 2024-25. Premier Doug Ford criticized the lawsuits, emphasizing education priorities.
