The World Health Organization (WHO) has released its first-ever clinical treatment guideline aimed at helping adults quit all forms of tobacco use, including cigarettes, cigars, and smokeless tobacco. The guidelines advocate a comprehensive approach including behavioral support, medication like varenicline and nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), and digital interventions. These recommendations are crucial for reducing the global burden of tobacco-related diseases, targeting over 750 million users worldwide who want to quit. Policy measures like tobacco taxes and accessibility to cessation treatments are also highlighted to support these efforts.
